We are delighted to be joined by Rob Brook, Brand Manager for the UK and Ireland for Grand Seiko to discuss this year’s new releases at Watches and Wonders. Rob shares what’s new from Grand Seiko, his favourite pieces and gives us an insight into what we can expect from the brand in the upcoming year.

What can you tell us about the new releases?

We are very proud to be at this year’s Watches and Wonders and this year we have announced our first mechanical chronograph: the Tentagraph. Its Evolution 9 case design complements the unique Japanese aesthetic of light and shadow, with a black ceramic bezel and a beautiful Mount Iwate dial.

What is your favourite piece and why?

We have a huge selection of watches within Grand Seiko and I would highly encourage readers to go into the Watches of Switzerland Group showrooms to see these pieces in real life. We have the beautiful Hana Ikada which is a rose gold elegance piece with a cherry blossom dial. My favourite personally is the Lake Suwa. This watch has a beautiful blue textured dial, which is inspired by Lake Suwa and its made in high-intensity titanium, ensuring it is extremely comfortable on the wrist. It also utilises a fantastic spring drive calibre which is unique to Grand Seiko.

How would you describe Grand Seiko in three words?

In three words I would describe Grand Seiko as exquisite, Japanese craftsmanship.

What timepiece are you wearing right now?

The piece I have on today is the Grand Seiko Toge. The watch features a British racing green dial in the texture of Mount Iwate which is the mountain that can be seen from the watch studio where they make mechanical watches. The contours and ridges are integral to the beautiful green textured dial.

What can we expect from the brand in the upcoming year?

In the upcoming year we are really looking to help support our retail partners and continue our high level of customer service. We are also developing an incitive called the GS9 Club, a community of watch collectors where they can access Grand Seiko directly, with a wide range of information. We will also be developing local events with retail partners to ensure we are connecting with the community – ensuring we bring special events and exclusives to you in your local showrooms.

To see more content from the fair, you can visit our dedicated Watches and Wonders 2022 landing page where we will be updating with the timepieces as they launch.
